Course Description

The Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering is an internationally oriented programme totally delivered in English, which aims at training professionals able to operate at the highest level in the areas of Mechanical Engineering, and work independently and confidently to develop projects and integrate competences both in the industry and service sectors.
Master degree students will advance their knowledge in different areas, such as mechanical design, applied mechanics, mechatronics, automation and industrial production, energy, management of complex systems, logistics, as well as in basic science, from a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary perspective.
The Master programme exploits the strong synergic relations that the Department of Mechanics Mathematics and Management at Polytechnic University of Bari has established with industries, corporations, research institutions in Europe and worldwide. Visiting professor and professionals from multinational corporations will also teach, bringing their real world experience to our students.
Students of the Master of Science programme in Mechanical Engineering will be able to choose between two lines of specializations: “Mechanics” which provides the most advanced tools to tackle cutting edge technological mechanical engineering and science applications: micromachines, complex mechanical systems, collaborative robots and swarm robotics, complex flows for space and bio applications, advanced materials; “Industry” which provide and in-depth preparation in the areas of industrial productions, virtual and augmented reality, management of complex system and enterprises, energy economic and environment sustainability of production and enterprises.
The Master of Science qualification provides access to PhD courses, second level Specialisations and second level University Master Programmes.

In the first year some of the modules are common to both specializations.
From the second year onwards, modules become specific to the specialisation chosen.

Currently we offer exchange programmes with many partner universities all over the world and is part of a large network of collaboration with employers in Italy and abroad where you can undertake your internship. We offer double degrees with Cranfield University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, and New York University.

Career Opportunities

Graduates are working in the industrial mechanical area in: research and development, product design and development, tooling, automation technology, production system and machine design, , production. The course provides students with the tools to pursue a career as a consultant or to work in manufacturing, mechanical and mechatronic companies, in energy production and conversion, automation, robotics or in the civil service. Our graduates design and produce tools, engines, machines and other mechanical equipment.
